Start with the footprint, not the quart rating
Most air fryer reviews lead with basket size. On a 24-inch counter between the stove and wall, depth and height matter more. We measured three compact models with a steel rule — cabinet lip to counter edge — and noted vent clearance.
What we measured
- Width at the widest point (handles folded in)
- Depth from counter edge to back panel
- Height with basket closed, plus 2 inches for heat vent clearance
Quick picks for tight counters
- Under 12 inches deep — fits most galley layouts without blocking the stove knob zone.
- Basket under 4 quarts — enough for two servings without a footprint that rivals a microwave.
- Cord exit side — right-hand outlets hate left-exit cords; we note this in every review.
