Drip coffee makers under 12 inches wide

Drip coffee makers under 12 inches wide

The 12-inch cabinet rule

In most apartments, upper cabinets sit 12 inches deep above the counter. A coffee maker taller than that belongs on an open shelf — not under the microwave cubby.

We tested drip and single-serve brewers with:

  • Carafe or reservoir installed
  • Lid fully open for filling
  • Drip tray extended

What to check before you buy

  • Width with the handle swung out (some “slim” models fail here)
  • Reservoir removal path — can you pull it forward without hitting the backsplash?
  • Warm plate clearance — does steam vent straight into the cabinet lip?

Counter Crew publishes measured dimensions on every coffee review. We disclose affiliate relationships at the top of each buying guide.
