Outlet spacing is the hidden spec
Manufacturers list toaster width. They rarely list cord pivot or lever travel when the unit sits between two outlets.
Our measurement checklist
- Mark the center of each outlet box on the backsplash.
- Measure clear width between faceplates — not just tile edge to tile edge.
- Add 1 inch for heat clearance on each side.
Long-slot vs standard-slot tradeoffs
Long-slot toasters save width but add depth. On counters less than 20 inches deep, we prefer standard slots with a narrow chassis and top-lift levers that do not hit the cabinet.
Every Counter Crew toaster review includes outlet-spacing notes for galley kitchens.
