How to measure counter space before buying an appliance

How to measure counter space before buying an appliance?

  1. Define the main job the product must do.
  2. Remove options that do not fit the space, size, or compatibility needs.
  3. Compare recent buyer feedback, warranty notes, and recurring complaints.
  4. Check the live Amazon page for price, coupons, stock, seller, and shipping timing.
  5. Choose the option with the clearest fit instead of the longest feature list.

The Counter Crew measurement card

Before we review any appliance, we fill out the same four-line card:

FieldHow we measure
WidthWidest point, handles included
DepthCounter edge to rear vent
HeightClosed lid + 2 in vent clearance
CordExit side and usable reach to outlet

Cabinet and door swing

Open upper cabinet doors above the target spot. If a door lip hangs lower than the appliance height, the item fails — even if the spec sheet says it fits.

Write it on the box

Photograph your measurement card next to the appliance when it arrives. Returns are easier when you can show the box depth was wrong, not your counter.

Use this method on every Counter Crew buying guide before you click buy.
